The first time I heard of a doula was about twelve years ago, shortly after we found out we were pregnant with our first son. After years of struggling to get pregnant, we were elated and overwhelmed, all at once. We hired an amazing doula, who was just as much a support for me as she was my husband! I knew from that point on, that I wanted to be a doula, to support, encourage and empower other families, just as our doula had done for us.
My own birth stories are as unique as my kids are today. These experiences have prepared me for what so many of the families I support go through, as well. My journey has given me perspective and empathy, and I am thankful for every twist in the road.
I will support you and your family with unconditional and non-judgmental care. I will encourage you, answer any questions you may have, connect you to community resources, and empower you to be your best advocate for the birth that feels right to you.
I was born in Wisconsin, grew up in a small town in northern Illinois, and took a ten year detour to Iowa, where I went to college, got married, and started our family. We always felt the pull to move to Wisconsin, which we finally listened to in 2015. I love the local farmer's markets, exploring the state parks and sitting around a campfire making memories with family and friends.
